A group of girls connected through their love of loud music, bad attitudes and aggressive tendencies gather in the derelict upper room of the infamous Corktown Tavern, local punk rock haven, at the behest of musician Lasha Laskowsky. Ms. Laskowsky, later known as Whip Lasha, has an idea for the women of Hamilton: Roller Derby.
After a great deal of discussion on the absurdity of the idea, a few too many beers and a lot of laughs; they sign their lives away. The Hamilton Harlots are born before even putting on a pair of roller skates.
February 2006
The girls of the Hammer head to Scooters Roller Palace in a nearby city, the only roller rink still in operation in the area. Most of the girls haven’t skated since high school, for some this was their first time ever on roller skates. After that first terrifying skate, surrounded by a rink of very skilled older school skaters, there is one very black eye, a number of bruises and a determination to make this work.
Spring 2006
There are now enough skaters for a second team, the Steeltown Tankgirls. The Harlots and Tankgirls form the Hammer City Roller Girls.
They learn to skate, master the cross-over and perform endless falling and jumping drills. Now they are ready to hit. With this advancement to a contact sport, the practice schedule at Scooter’s ends and the HCRG must find a new home.
They find Mainway Sports Centre in Burlington, a little closer to home. In true Canadian style, it is a ball hockey rink; it is small and has boards. Here the teams can hit and slam each other into the boards. It is a painful but rewarding experience. They start to scrimmage and start to learn the game, without ever having watched a real bout.
July 2006
After 6 months of hard work the HCRG have their first game; over 600 fans come out to watch the first roller derby revival game in Ontario.

The Harlots practice, they party, they promote the sport and make a name and reputation for themselves. A few original players, Buckshot Bebee and Whip Lasha, leave the league but remain true Harlots and stay involved in the HCRG. A few new Harlots join the team for 2007; Hawkeye Fierce, Snuffette and Vicadoom.

Winter 2008
The Harlots continue to build. They practice harder, they party harder, they promote the sport harder and make a bigger name and reputation for themselves. Sadly, a few more of the original players leave the league to focus on other priorities in their lives. The Harlots and their fans miss BJ Hooker, Maya Ruins and Violet Dagger on the track the 2008 season; but love to see them in the stands. There are a few other line up changes in 2008; ChainSAW Mary and Danger Mouse work the Harlot bench and there are 3 new faces on the team. Please give a warm Harlot welcome to our newest Harlots; Big Tickets, Skate Winslett and Auntie Hits2Mean. The Harlots also welcome the Death Row Dames to the HCRG.
The 2008 Season starts with the Beast of the East. A 16 Team Tournament hosted by Montreal Roller Derby and the Harlots are undefeated and bring home the trophy.

Winter 2009 After an action packed 2008 season; the Harlots receive mention in H Magazine as one their Reader’s Choice Favorite Local Sports Team. These girls love the spotlight. With knowledge gained from visiting teams from Madison and Texas; the Harlots amp up their training for the 2009 season. Harlots are never ones for standing still, so their will be some line up changes again this year.
After the birth of our first Baby Harlot, ChainSAW Mary is back. Watch out, she is sleep deprived and hasn’t been able to hit anyone for a year. Skate Winslett will be on the side lines this year and bringing us another baby Harlot over the summer. We will also be saying good bye to one of the original Harlots, Scora Lucadora. The Harlots’ loss is the North Carolina Blue Mountain Roller Girls’ gain.
Familiar faces to the HCRG but new to the red hot Harlot uniform are Boom Boom Betty, Dr. Akula and Eduskating Rita. Watch out for Kibosh Spice on the track this year as our newest Harlot.
